The entire national leadership of Congress including Mahatma Gandhi were taken into custody same night. The next day Aruna Asif Ali a young leader hoisted the flag breaking all barriers and movement was launched through the length and breadth of the country. While Mahatma Gandhi Ji was in jail, his wife Kasturba Gandhi expired. The entire leadership was in jail but it was Indira Gandhi returned from Srinagar airport and led the entire movement. This movement forced Britishers to decide to leave this country.
The speakers also recalled that there are forces and organizations who did not participate in the Quit India Movement and sided with Britishers but today questioning Congress, which is very unfortunate and irony of the time.
