| Commercial, residential buildings raised on Nallahs | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 27: Believe it or not, the deep drains in the town and outer areas have been encroached for commercial and residential purposes.
Sources informed that much of the encroachment has taken place within municipal limits at areas like Capri near ISCKON Temple, Gole Market, Thandha Paddar, Hospital Road, Four Lane etc.
Surprisingly many restaurants, schools, hotels and petrol pumps have emerged on the Nallahs after covering them with concrete roofs.
Experts say that all such encroachments are responsible for the flood like situations even on slight rains with dirty waters entering shops and residences.
Sources said that the authorities should remove all these encroachments to ensure public safety in rainy season adding that several illegal structures were demolished by the authorities in different districts of J&K like Samba and Jammu and it's the right time to dismantle such structures constructed by encroachers by flouting norms with the help of politicians. |
