Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 27: Hailing the Union government's decision of abrogating Article 370 is need of the hour, the business community of Narwal Pain said that it was more than needed adding that it will not only generate jobs avenues in Jammu but also curb militancy in the valley.
While interacting with Early Times team, the businessmen of the area said that however, Article 370 which gave special statues to state of Jammu and Kashmir, was a temporary provision in the constitution of India but successive union governments hitherto not dare to abrogate it. The only purpose of the successive governments' was to appease a particular community and demean the interest of the Jammuities. Waryam Singh, a owner of cycle store said that we will always stand with Modi government which took the decision of abrogation of special status and now, the big industrialists and multinational companies will move towards Jammu and Kashmir which will eventually create job opportunities for local youth.
Nariender Kumar Dutta, another entrepreneur hailed the decision and termed it as historic for Jammuities but raised some apprehension over land and employment in government sector. He said that before the abrogation of Article 370, the youth of Jammu only compete with Kashmiri youth but now they will face competition from rest of the country. "Atleast, the government should make some provision in-which the youth of Jammu get some relaxation in government jobs otherwise the youth of Jammu would struggle in getting jobs in their own region. While expressing his experience, Dutta further said that Rs 55/ cement bags tax is being paid at Lakhanpur Toll Plaza in addition to 28 percent GST and now we were hoping from Modi government that the additional tax would be scrapped otherwise it would prove as only eye wash. "Abrogation of Article 370 will provide huge job avenues for youth of Jammu and Kashmir but also make India stronger. Just after announcement of abrogation, many big industrialists of our country made statements that we were ready to invest in Jammu and Kashmir and it is good signal for youth of Jammu and Kashmir," said Gourav, owner of Chanchal Medicare. Santi Sarup Bakshi said that before the 5th of August 2019, the successive Union governments had provided huge funds for the development of Jammu and Kashmir for establishing infrastructures but the lion's share always digested by Kashmir based politicians and Jammu got only nominal that's why Jammu always remained neglected in terms of development.
