8/27/2019 11:30:51 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 27: The National Conference President and Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah, is likely to meet his son Omar Abdullah who is detained here at Hari Niwas Palace here in coming days.
Sources said the central team which recently opened communication channels with former Chief Ministers including Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah and Dr Abdullah, have reached to "consensus" that there was a need to let Dr Abdullah have one-on-one with his son such that the two leaders mutually decides future course of actions.
Sources said that Dr Abdullah was likely to meet his son later this week. Sources, however, said it was not certain as to how much time would be given the two to meet. "First thing will be decided in accordance with the jail manual," said a source on the condition of anonymity.
It was reliably learnt that National Conference leaders have largely agreed on "peace-pact" that will help Kashmir rush back to normal at the earliest. Sources said that party has already softened its stand. "Many of them (NC leaders) who were under house arrest are behaving like responsible citizens and haven't resorted to any such activities that could deteriorate the situation in Kashmir," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention that NC team led by its senior leaders Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and MP Hasnain Masoodi had called on PM Modi ahead of the abrogation of Article 370. During the meeting Dr Abdullah has managed to exclusively talk to PM Modi for around five minutes. It was reliability learnt that Dr Abdullah wanted "Ashirwaad for himself and his family especially son Omar".
Since August 5, while Omar has been detained at Hari Niwas Palace near his house, his father Dr Abdullah has been stationed at his Gupkar residence. Despite repeated attempts, the NC leaders couldn't be contacted for comments.
