Dr Jitendra dedicates Indoor Sports Halls to Public at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 30: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today inaugurated Indoor Sports Hall here at Subash Stadium here the other day.

A Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall at Ramnagar was also e-inaugurated by the union minister.

After inauguration, the Union Minister interacted with the sportspersons and said that sports inculcates discipline and gives fillip to their determination to achieve the goals.

He congratulated the people in general and youth in particular of District Udhampur for having the Indoor sports hall. He called upon the sports lovers of the district to make best use of these Indoor Sports Hall and excel in the games and sports of their interest.

He said that the youth of Udhampur District have ample talent in sports and there is need to channelize their talent in the right direction by providing them appropriate platform. He emphasized on holding regular sports activities in the District.

The Union Minister further said that the Government is working towards providing best sports infrastructure and opportunity to enthusiastic players to show their talents in different sports events. He highlighted the achievements of present government and congratulated people for new medical college in Udhampur for which land has been identified.

Dr. Singh also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary and said that Gandhi ji gave us the concept of Swachhta and our Prime Minister gave us the concept of fitness. He added that government of India is celebrating 150th Gandhi Jayanti and different activities will be organized under Swachhta hi Seva and Fit India across the country.

Earlier, the District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla welcomed the chief guest and other guests.

He said that the District Administration has organised series of activities to promote sportsmanship among the students under Khelo India and Fit India initiatives across the District in which 1500 students from different educational institutions participated.

On the occasion, the students of different schools demonstrated Yoga Asans, Judo, played Badminton and Table Tennis which was highly appreciated by the audiences.

Meanwhile, Secretary Sports Council J&K, Naseem Javed Choudhary briefed about the Indoor Sports Hall Udhampur and Ramnagar. He informed that Indoor Sports Hall Udhampur and Ramnagar has been constructed under State sector and Pradhan Mantri, Developmental Programme (PMDP). He added that the provision of playing events in both Halls include Badminton, Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Yoga, Judo, Snooker, Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Carrom Board, besides separate changing rooms has been constructed for Boys and Girls.

Among others, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Omparkash Pandey, Secretary Sports Council J&K, Naseem Javed Choudhary, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar President MC Udhampur, Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, ASP, Rajinder Katoch, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Vikar Giri , Executive Engineers, Sports Council, PHE, PDD, R&B, Ex MLAs, Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia, Pawan Gupta, Ex MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat, Councillors, and other officers of various departments besides prominent citizen were present on the occasion.
