JAMMU, Oct 4: In compliance to directions of Supreme Court of India and as per protocol (SOP) prepared by the National Legal Services Authority, the Under Trail Review Committee (UTRC) on Friday inspected District Jail Amphalla and Central Jail Kot Balwal to review cases of all under-trail prisoners.
The Committee was comprised of Vinod Chatterji Koul Principal District & Sessions Judge Jammu, Naushad Ahmed Khan, Secretary DLSA Jammu, Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and Tejinder Singh, SSP Jammu.
During the visit, the Committee took stock of basic necessities available to the prisoners including clean drinking water, food, medical care, sanitation, proper clothing and bedding hygiene in kitchen, toilets and barracks etc.
The Committee also interacted with the inmates to listen to their grievances and issued on the spot directions to the concerned authorities regarding redressal of genuine concerns of the prisoners there. |
