| Communication gag, floods make security forces worry about families | | Cannot talk to families on daily basis say security forces | |

Srinagar, Oct 4: With valley hit with continuous communication blockade hundreds of security forces posted in the Kashmir claim that they cannot reach out to their families as they used to before 5th August. While as the recent floods in many Indian states have added more to the worries of security forces personnel.
The security personnel who belong to various states like Bihar and Rajasthan are very much concerned by the news of floods and what adds more to their ordeal is the ongoing cellular gag as they can't speak to their families frequently as has been the practice before August 5. The valley continues to witness the cellular communication gag for 61th day causing inconveniences not only to the people but on duty security personnel as well. Number of security forces claimed that they are worried as they are not able to speak to their families on daily basis and are able to talk only twice in a week.
A trooper deployed in Srinagar, on the basis of anonymity said "After 5th August, I am not able to talk to my family on daily basis. I am worried about my parents, wife and kids. I cannot contact them and ask them about their well beings like I used to. I can hope and pray that they are fine". He added that moreover, I heard in the news that there are floods in my area and because there is a communication gag here in the valley, I am not able to reach out my loved ones and nor are they able to get in contact with me. I only talk once or twice in a week to my family. I guess our phones should be restored at least in current situation.
Another trooper Shukla (name changed) said, "I came to know that the flood water has entered in our village and most of the villagers have been taken to the safer places by the administration. We are focused on our jobs and we would not let anyone to bring trouble in the valley". He further said that Nation is always first for us but at the same time we have families back at home who are concerned about us. And, also we know that the situation is not favorable to restore the cellular services in the valley because of the obvious reasons but I guess our phone numbers should have been working. We are always with the nation on any circumstances and we are ready to anything that will safeguard our fellow citizens. |
