Second rung Kashmir Centric leaders project themselves as future rulers
10/22/2019 11:44:29 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 22: As the date of Jammu and Kashmir functioning as Union Territory (UT) is drawing closure some particular leaders of Kashmir Centric parties are trying to project themselves as a viable option for new set up.
Sources told Early Times kith and kin of some influential leaders of Kashmir centric Political parties are working out modalities to say good bye to traditional political parties and change their side. "Many young politicians in Kashmir have realised that the traditional parities have outlived their utility and there is no point and wasting time in these parties", sources added.
They claimed that as soon J&K starts functioning as UT, hectic political activities likely to resume. "There could be many surprises in store for the people and the Kashmir centric parties including National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stand decimated. Young politicians who till 5 August claim to say that they have got the mandate to carry forward the legacy of their forefather and they are the future rulers finding themselves on cross swords", said an analyst.
He said, "After delimitation size of assembly seats in J&K will be almost be equal, and there is also a possibility about the first Chief Minister of newly carved UT Jammu and Kashmir being from Jammu region. Kashmir Centric leaders are very much aware about this fact and they will try their best to regroup and prevent any candidate from Jammu region to reach on the top."
An analyst said, "It was for first time since 1947 that political scenario will change. Politicians, including former Chief Ministers from Kashmir have become irrelevant and their proxies will try their best to project themselves as the future leaders of Jammu and Kashmir."
An observer said, "The emerging situation is litmus test for the leader from Jammu region. History stands testimony from the fact the leaders from Jammu during the last seven decades have remained contend, by acting as second fiddle, but now the time is changed and opportunity knocking at their doors and they should utilise it ."
He said that report about the second rung leaders from Kashmir trying to emerge as representatives, are indications that the leaders from Jammu have uphill task in their hands, and slight disturbance in number make a huge difference.
