Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 22: Even as the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into the two union territories including Ladakh will come into force on October 31, 2019, some of the politicians in Kashmir are dreaming of getting an offer to be sworn in as the Lieutenant Governor of J&K.
Sources said at least three politicians are dreaming of getting the offer and that their close aides and party cadres have been spreading a word in this regard.
Interestingly while two of them are presently under detention, the third one, who was not put under detention, is more optimistic of getting the offer.
Sources said this politician, who was ousted from the Peoples Democratic Party, had been "hopeful" of getting the offer as he has been rubbing shoulders with some leaders from the Bharatiya Janta Party.
Sources said what has even risen his hope is the release of his close aides from detention. "The group thinks that the Lt Governor will be their leader," said an insider.
Sources said some of the leaders from one of the oldest regional party in the state have pinned similar hopes for their leader presently booked under the Public Safety Act and detained at his house on the Gupkar road.
Sources said the cadres of one separatist-turned-mainstream politician who was also a minister in the previous Peoples Democratic Party led government and was seen as close to the BJP, are also hopeful to get such an offer for their detained leader.
Sources close to such political parties said their cadres are hopeful of getting an offer to "end deadlock" in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
It was reliably learnt that some of their supporters are already trying to spread a word in this regard among the general public to show that "we are still powerful and relevant."
Despite repeated attempts the said politicians or their supporters couldn't be contacted for comments.
