AILU resents dismantling of State Commissions
10/25/2019 10:01:01 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 25: The Sate Unit of the All India Lawyers Union (AILU) has taken a serious view of various decisions taken by the Govt. and some proposals to dismantle the redressal forums which have been established after great exercise by the State Legislature. The people of the Sate have been resorting to these forums for redressal of their grievances.
State Commission and District Forums constituted under the J&K Consumers Protection Act 1987 have been ordered to be wound up vide Govt Order No. 1145-GAD of 2019 dated 23.10.2019. Strange part of the Order is that files shall be sent to Department of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs. Consumer litigants are left high and dry. State Accountability Commission has also been wound up. This has impacted adversely the fight against corruption in the state.
The proposal to segregate Service Matters from the J&K High Court and send them to some Tribunal to be constituted is also likely to affect justice seekers adversely besides the lawyers community. The Govt. is not filling up all the 17 vacancies of Judges of State High Court.
Another strange proposal to shift High Court and Subordinate Courts from Janipura Court Complex to across Tawi Jungle Raika is quite unreasonable. Huge infrastructure has been created at present site besides facilities for lawyers and litigants, is likely to go waste. Another Forest area and thousands of trees are to be destroyed besides making thousands of crores investment which money can be spent for other developmental activities. MM Baru, BL Kalgotra, BS Manhas, HC Jalmeria, Roop Lal, KM Bhatti, Bansi Lal Sharma, Surjit Singh, Supriya Chouhan, advocates of AILU strongly resented these decisions and proposals.
