REASI, Nov 9: District Development Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib on Friday conducted tour of block Pouni and took stock of development scenario at various panchayats in a day-long extensive tour. The DDC visited panchayats Laiter, Laiter Maghai, Bhambhla and Gajore. Beginning with panchayat Laiter, the DDC first inspected a brick kiln and took stock of safety measures and adherence of environmental guidelines. She also inspected various works started by the Rural Development Department like a Community Sanitary Complex, a Common Facility Centre (CFC) and houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana. Sadoti to Gurha Charala road, being constructed by the Public Works Department and the grid station at village Dadua were also inspected by the DDC.
At Bhambhla, the DDC directed the Sarpanch and Panchs to expedite the pace of works being done under MGNREGA by utilizing the job cards issued and by prioritising labour intensive works along with Jal Shakti.
The DDC later trekked up to and camped for the night at remote village Rolkian Top of panchayat Gajore, around 15 kms away from the main road and listened to people's demands. The overwhelmed locals, welcomed the DDC and demanded that public transport be started to facilitate the locals for easy road access. She assured prompt grant of permit for the suggested route and called upon the locals to volunteer to invest in the said transport avenues with the help of the administration. The locals also demanded other amenities like regular supply of electricity and drinking water, solar lights, dispensary and cattle shed among others. Upon listening to the demand of a cattle shed, the DDC assured that sufficient support would be provided to deserving applicants. Similarly people from Gujjar-Bakerwal community were also assured apt support from the district administration.
