Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 9: Accusing a senior officer working in Regional Labour Commissioner (RLC) Office of making undue delay in disposal of termination cases of the workers, it has been alleged that the officer has been working on behest of employers for his vested interest.
Sources told Early Times that the a large number of termination cases of workers who were engaged in private companies are lying pending with Regional Labour Commissioner Office for its disposal but the alleged officer has been harassing the poor workers for making undue delaying it.
They further said that for the disposal of termination cases, the workers are sent notices in this connection by the office so that they can present their cases before the officer. "There is clear direction under Industrial Dispute Act 1947 that termination cases that the designated officer has to complete the conciliation proceeding within 45 days but the worker are sent notice after 2-3 months with clear intention to discourage them," they said. They further alleged the workers are misbehaved by the designated officer and it has been learnt that the officer has been playing in the hands of employers. "Recently when as workers' union leader met with the said officer in this connection, he was ill- treated, humiliated by the said officer in presence of employers just to please and favour them with vested interest," sources alleged.
They said that with this unprofessional behavior by the officer, the plights of the poor workers remained unheard. It has come to know that there are already many complaints against this officer for his anti workers attitude.
