National Legal Services Day observed across Jammu Division

JAMMU, Nov 9: National Legal Services Day was celebrated in entire Jammu Division and various programmes and other activities were also held at all the district headquarters.
District Legal Services Authority, Jammu under the aegis of J&K State Legal Services Authority, today celebrated National Legal Services Day in the conference hall of District Court Complex Janipur, Jammu under the Chairmanship R K Wattal, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu. The programme was also attended by Judicial Officers, Public Prosecutors, Additional Public Prosecutors, Police Officers, Advocates, Senior Citizens and Para Legal Volunteers.
Chairman District Legal Services Authority, R K Wattal, highlighted the important schemes introduced by NALSA for providing Legal Aid and the utility of the Lok Adalats and also highlighted the provisions of Legal Services to weaker sections of the society. Bala Jyoti, Registrar Rules High Court of J&K appreciated the efforts of the Para Legal Volunteers and said that Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is the greater contribution of the Government for resolving different kinds of disputes and Lok Adalats are organized across the country to make safe the legal system operations and encourages righteousness of people on equality basis. At Udhampur, National Legal Services day was celebrated in Udhampur today under which District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of Mohan LalManhas, Chairman District Legal Services Authority organized a legal awareness camp at JK Public School in which a large number of people participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DLSA Manhas said that the aim of celebrating the Legal Services Day is to offer legal services to the people of weaker sections of society. He added that on this day, Lok Adalats are also being organized on the day to make safe the legal system operations and encourages the righteousness of people on the equality basis.
At Ramban, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) celebrated National Legal Services Day in District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Kishore Kumar who is also the chairman District Legal Services Authority Ramban.
On the occasion, plantation drive was launched by the Chairman DLSA who planted a fruit sapling in the premises of district court. Meanwhile, a legal awareness camp besides a Lok Adalat was also held in which 50 cases were taken and 04 cases were decided.
At Reasi, District Legal Services Authority under the Chairmanship of Kamlesh Pandit, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) celebrated National Legal Services Day.
On the occasion a Legal Awareness Camp and Lok Adalat was held. The camp was attended by Kamlesh Pandit Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi, A S Langeh, Sub-Judge Chief Judicial Magistrate Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Reasi, Anjum Ara, Secretary (Sub Judge), District Legal Services Authority, Reasi, Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC Reasi, Assma Choudhary, Addl. Special Mobile Magistrate Reasi, President Bar Association and Members, Para Legal Volunteers and a large number of litigants.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamlesh Pandit Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi threw light on different NALSA & SLSA schemes and made people aware about Lok-Adalats.
, Pre- litigation system and different schemes launched by NALSA and SLSA for the benefit of people and lauded the role of National Legal Services Authority and State Legal Services Authority for its efforts to provide justice on wheels at the door steps of litigants. Other speakers also spoke on the importance of the day.
On the occasion, a Lok Adalat was also held in which 212 cases were taken and 23 cases were decided alongwith award for Rs 669430.00.
