Fed up', NC leader looking for 'alternatives'
11/10/2019 11:50:32 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 10: A senior leader of the National Conference, who has also been MLA in the past, is looking for alternatives for his future in politics.
Sources said the former NC MLA who had also remained a prominent face of the party from Hazratbal in the past was not in good terms with the party for the past several months.
Sources said the main reason of his getting "alienated" was that the party was unlikely to grant him ticket for the then prospective Assembly elections from anywhere in Srinagar.
Sources said the party had been eyeing to give Hazratbal constituency ticket to one of the two contenders, who were being seen among the best bets.
Sources said with the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, the politician has been contact with some politicians from other parties.
"He has been approached by leaders from other parties but his final response is awaited," said a source in know of the matter.
The source said the only thing clear was that the politician in question was not going to stay back with the NC. "He may float his own party or go with some other party, but chances of staying back with the NC look grim," said a source in the know of the matter.
The source said politician enjoys some support in the Hazratbal area. "For quite some time he has been trying to give a notion among the locals that he is no more associated with the National Conference," said a source.
It was reliably learnt that some of the senior leaders from the national party are likely to hold one -on-one meeting with him in the coming days to decide about the future course of action.
Despite repeated attempts the politician couldn't be contacted for comments.
