BBIA castigates Labour department for its failure to reimburse ESI claims

Jammu, Dec 20: Bari Brahama Industries Assocation (BBIA) has castigated the Labour department for their failure to reimburse the pending claims of ESI insured workers.
According to press release, a meeting of BBIA was held under the Presidentship of Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Tarun Singla, Sr. Vice President, Ajay Langer Vice President, Viraaj Malhotra General Secretary, Rajesh Jain Secretary and Vivek Singhal Treasurer BBIA.
They lambasted the Labour department for non release of payment of reimbursement claims of workers, for the purchase of Medicines to the workers, registered with ESIC due to non availability of the Medicine in ESIC Hospital/ Dispensaries .
It is pertinent to mention here that as per the data available with the Association, pending claims for the reimbursement amounting to Rs. Two Crores pending with the J&K Labour Department since long due to cumbersome procedure adopted by the Labour Department resulting the poor Industrial Workers are running from pillar to post for getting their hard earned money spent on purchase of medicine due to non availability of the same with the State run dispensaries as the Labour Department failed to purchase the requisite medicines in spite of the huge amount available with the Department duly disbursed by ESI Corporation under the scheme.
It was further resolved that it is the responsibility of the ESI Hospital/ State run dispensaries to ensure the availability of requisite medicine prescribed by the concerned Doctors and in case of non availability of the same medicines in the ESI Hospital/ Dispensaries the same should be made available to the workers by the Hospital Administration/ Dispen-saries by purchasing the same from the market & in case of non availability the claims should be settled immediately on the production of Purchase Bills by the Industrial Workers. Further, the Regional Director, ESI Corporation, Jammu take up the matter with the Medical Superintendent, ESIC Hospital, Bari Brahmana to ensure that the Medicines to be prescribed by the concerned Doctors should be available in the Hospital & in case of non availability of the same, the claims should be settled immediately on the production of Purchase Bills of medicines by the Industrial Workers.
