J&K outclass Maharashtra by 54 runs in last day thriller

Srinagar, Dec 20: In the last day nail-biting run chase thriller of Ranji match, Jammu and Kashmir defeated host Maharashtra by 54 runs, as hosts were bundled out under 309. Umar Nazir was awarded Man of the Match for his bowling performance. Maharashtra required 172 runs on the day four to seal the game after the tour game set a target of 364 for hosts in the second innings. It was the first inning lead of over 100 runs that gave an extra edge to the Jammu and Kashmir team. Coming to bat on the fourth day with an overnight score of 192, Ankit Bawne was the first wicket to perish. He was bowled by Umar Nazir. Satyajeet Bachary could not add many scores; he added 12 runs to the scoreboard tally. Anupam was another batsman to go; he got a hell of a ball from pacer Mudhasir. It was the wicket of Digvijay Deshmusk which the game-changer for Jammu and Kashmir team.
Deshmukh scored highest 83 runs in quick 71 balls, he hit seven 4's and five 6's before Umar Nazir took his wicket. Mukesh was the last batsman to fall on the score of 309 runs as Jammu and Kashmir won second game in a row, securing another six points. For Jammu and Kashmir Umar Nazir and Mudhasir took four wickets each. Abid took two wickets. Last match's man of the match winner Ram Dayal could not take any wicket in second innings.
Earlier Maharashtra won the toss and opted to field first. Jammu and Kashmir scored 209 runs in the first inning with Ahmed Banday scoring 76 runs. While host Maharashtra was bundled out for 109 runs giving a lead of over 100 to J&K in second innings. Batting second Jammu and Kashmir scored 263 runs and setting a target of 364 runs.
