JAMMU, Dec 20: Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment Department Saurabh Bhagat today chaired a special preparatory meeting for involvement of Directorate of Employment in ensuing investment summit.
The Employment Department is endeavouring to provide a platform for job placement of prospective employees within the Union Territory of J&K, within India and abroad.
Director Employment, who is also ex-officio Managing Director, Overseas Employment Corporation of J&K, was asked to review its role as an agency to empanel prospective recruiters for eligible youth of J&K in various overseas countries, especially Gulf and Middle East.
Recently the Department has also conducted special surveys on post graduate unemployed youth of J&K, which shall be utilized for getting suitable placements with various prestigious employers in the future, the meeting was told.
Commissioner/Secretary emphasized the need for registration of every unemployed youth with the District Employment and Counselling Centres, so that they are not left out of job opportunities during the ensuing initiative.
The Commissioner/Secretary, while reviewing the Self Help Group of Engineers Scheme, visualized the need of changing the whole structure of the scheme in order to make it more effective and friendly among the unemployed engineers and the line departments. The meeting was attended by the Director Employment, J&K, Yash Paul Suman; Joint Director Employment, Jammu, Jyoti Rani Salathia; Joint Director Employment, Kashmir, Shahid Mehmood; Deputy Director Planning, Mohammad Akbar; Assistant Director Employment Central, Mohammad Rafeeq Bhat.
Meanwhile, Secretary also visited the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Auquaf Market, which is duly funded by the Employment Department through EDI under Seed Capital Fund Scheme. He also paid visit to Women's Development Corporation, Jammu.
