JAMMU, DECEMBER 21: Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Labour & Employment Saurabh Bhagat today chaired a high level meeting to review progress in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM) and other schemes meant for providing benefit to un-organized workers.

Labour Commissioner, A R War; Director Labour Employment, Y P Suman; Director Finance, Barkat Hussain; Deputy Director Planning, Abdul Hamid; State Nodal Officer, Shahnawaz Rashid; General Manager–Education, CSC e-Governance, besides other concerned attended the meeting.

While appreciating the work of the officials, the Secretary said that despite its small size, J&K holds 9th position in India and is first among the UTs by registering 93,322 individuals under PMSYM. He exhorted upon the Trade bodies, Federation of Industry and Commerce, Labour Association, NGOs and Media to publicise the scheme to ensure 100% coverage of un-organized sector workers.

The Labour Commissioner informed the meeting about the progress achieved under the scheme. He said that more than 50 Public Awareness Camps were organized in the preceding months across District Head Quarters to aware the labour force about the scheme.

The meeting was informed that a month long campaign would be soon simultaneously launched at 3,200 Community Service Centres (CSCs) across J&K, where free of charge registration, based on biometrics, shall be done for workers.
