Div Com visits Udhampur reviews developmental projects

UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER-27:- Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma conducted a day long extensive tour of district Udhampur and took stock of developmental works being executed in different sectors in the district.

The Div Com along with District Development Commissioner Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla visited the Chhattrambli, Panchayat Chak Rakwalan where he inspected the Jeevika project launched by the district administration.

The DDC apprised the Div Com that project Jeevika was conceptualized for water conservation of small and marginal farmers in the district to enhance their livelihood. He informed that under this project 840 ponds will be constructed in convergence with MGNREGA in all panchayats of the district.

The Div Com interacted with the farmers and stressed on promotion of mushroom cultivation, organic farming and vermi compost in their area to increase their income. He said that government is making all efforts for sustained growth of agriculture sector by introducing several innovative measures to enable farmers to get maximum returns from their land.

Div Com asked the concerned officers to ensure effective implementation of government sponsored schemes meant for socio-economic transformation of farmer’s community. This will help in achieving the target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022. He also commended the efforts of the department in the field of organic farming and its promotion in rural areas of the district as organic crops are highly remunerative and health protective. He called upon all the stake holders to work out the future course of action for increasing the production and productivity of cash crops.

He also stressed the need for planting good quality fruit trees in the areas for boosting horticulture for the benefit of farming community. During his tour, he also visited the site of Kill waste machine recently installed for solid waste disposal at Sui Jakhar. DDC briefed the Div Com about the functioning of Kill Waste Machine.

The Div Com appreciated the efforts of district administration for installation of this machine. He asked the DDC to sensitize the general public about the harmful effect of polythene bags and urged them to use jute bags or paper bags as an alternative to polythene bags in the district.

The Div Com also inspected the progress of ongoing Devika project. He directed executing agency to gear up men and machinery to complete this prestigious project well in time. Meanwhile, Div Com visited Salmay and inaugurated the Guage reader hut constructed by Irrigation and Flood Control Department.

Later, the Divisional Commissioner convened a meeting of district officers to take stock of various ongoing developmental projects in the district.

The DDC gave a detailed resume on account of different sectors through power point presentation like PHE, PWD, PDD, Health, PMGSY, Forest, Sports, Agriculture and Horticulture taken up in the district.

Threadbare discussions were held on various issues regarding status of roads in the town, Improvement /macadamization of roads, Water requirement and availability, Power requirement and availability, Devika project executions widening of road by BRO, Shifting of bus stand, EOC, Review of PMGSY roads and disbursement of land compensation to concerned land owners, Status of CRF roads, Status of Languishing projects, Status of four lanning of National Highway from Udhampur to Chenani, Land Bank, Traffic scenario, Accommodation of BDC Chairpersons, Progress of PMAY and Ayushman Bharat schemes, Status of Chenani Sudh Mahadev road ,Jal Jeevan Mission etc were discussed in detail.

The Div Com directed the concerned officers to speed up the pace of work on all developmental projects for timely completion. Directions were issued to concerned officers to gear up men and machinery for effective and timely completion of these developmental projects. Div Com appreciated the new initiatives taken by district administration for sustainable employment generation, disposal of solid waste and other initiative.

Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, Probationer, Faz-Lul- Haseeb, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr Gurvinderjeet Singh, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mushtaq Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Vikar Giri, DFO, Shavaita Jandial, ARTO, Rachna Sharma, Exen PHE, Taj Chowdhary, Exen PDD, Rajinder Gupta, Exen REW,Bashir Sheikh, Chief Agriculture Officer, Satish Bhagat, Chief Education Officer, P.D Sharma, CEO MC, Santosh Kotwal and other district officers of different departments were present in the meeting.
