Jammu Dec 28: The road of Transport Nagar Jammu, an important transport hub in Jammu is in shambles — due to courtesy of indifferent attitude of the concerned department who is entrusted with the job of doing black topping and maintenance of the roads within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The road has developed puddles, potholes and ditches in entire area which added to the miseries of the commuters in particular and masses in general.
The importance— of Transport Nagar area has a significance since an important commercial hub of transport yard is situated in this area and lakhs of vehicles comes in this area for doing service and rectifying of the defects in the vehicles— they too were up in arms over the condition of the road — but the administration has least bother to redress the grievance of the transport nagar business community .
Speaking to Early Times, the business community representatives inform that the rains as and when comes— the condition of the roads in transport nagar turn from bad to worse as the muddy water enter the shops coupled with drainage system is also defunct which further aggravates their problem — blame that the authorties concerned apparently looks stuffed their ears drums problems with the cotton balls stuck inside.
They said that the masses of the transport nagar curse their luck that led the authorities to utter failure in macadamization of the roads in the area that wrecks havoc on them as there is every apprehension of any untoward accident.
"Even there is presence of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) where thousands of the needy people rushes to this another public importance government office— the office for purpose of doing the registration of the respective vehicles— they too question the apathetic attitude of the administration— even after it becomes union territory with active control of centre over it— but still the black topping hasn’t been done.
They said that the resentment is brewing among the shopkeepers of the transport yard whose business is adversely affected with the bad condition of the road and they expressed their anger against the authorities for not paying any heed towards developing the roads and in this winter season when cold is at its peak— problem further aggravated for them and drivers who comes from far off places to this area — even castigated the authorities for not black topping the roads.
Another shopkeeper while talking to Early Times questioned the famous slogan of the BJP Government “Sabka Saath ,Sabka vikas“ and same has been proved hollow added that due to potholes— dust emanating from the road as the vehicles plays in the area since morning till evening as a result of which the shopkeepers of this area are suffering from the diseases like that of bronchitis, cough etc added that the only solution to all this miseries is the immediate black topping and expressed their helplessness that no one will able to reach out to them as they are moving from pillar to post— but to no avail.
Elaborating further,They took a dig against the successive regimes for turning a Nelson's eye towards this area added that except verbal assurances— nothing else has been done.
Shopkeepers make a desperate appeal to the lieutenant Governor to comes to their rescue— before its too late— added that rather they are losing patience with each passing day and the day is not far away when they hit to the streets for the sake of fulfilment of the demand.
