Srinagar, Dec 28: Traffic will ply for the second straight day on Sunday from Jammu to Srinagar on the national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.

Traffic will continue to ply from Jammu to Srinagar on Sunday for the second day, a traffic police official told this morning.
He said Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) had to cross Nagrotra before 1100 hrs while Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMVs) upto 1300 hrs. However, no vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction.
Only one-way traffic will continue to ply on the highway till further orders to avoid traffic jam and accidents as road at several places is very narrow where only one vehicle can pass. He appealed to people to strictly follow the advisory being issued daily by the traffic department.
The official also urged people to contact Traffic Control Units (TCUs) at Srinagar, Jammu and Ramban before starting journey on the highway.
The 434-km-long national highway, the only road connecting Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir, also remained closed for the past 18 days due to accumulation of snow and slippery road conditions.
The historic Mughal road, linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region remained closed for the past 19 days on Saturday due to accumulation of snowfall and slippery road conditions.
