GGHSS Rajouri organizes workshop on importance of mathematics

Rajouri, Dec 28: To popularize the important subject of Mathematics among the student community, today a special workshop was organized at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School at Rajouri.
The workshop was part of various programmes being organized across the country to celebrate birth anniversary of legendary Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. On this occasion School Principal Abdul Rauf Dar was the Chief Guest and the workshop was attend by the school staff and students. Speaking on the occasion, Dar highlighted the huge contribution which Indian mathematicians have made in the field of mathematics. He highlighted the contribution of ancient Indian mathematicians like Aryabhata and Bhaskaracharaya and elaborated about why math is important to science.
Throwing light on the life of Ramanjan, Dar called upon the students to learn from the life of this great mathematician. He said that besides being from a very very poor background, Ramajujan took very keen interest in mathematics and solved my problems which are vital for running our daily lives. He also expressed his concern that these days many students consider math as a boring subject and thus very few students opt this as a subject.
Radhika Gupta, Lecturer Mathematics, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Rajouri was the event coordinator. In her address she stressed on the importance of mathematics in our daily life. She practically explained to the students that we can not run our daily lives without application of mathematics.
