ramban, Jan 5: The menace of drugs among the youth is spreading at an alarming rate which is among the greatest causes of concern. In order to free the society of such heinous societal crimes, a special drive has been launched by Ramban police against the drug abuse. Carrying forward the special drive, today on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma, a police party led by SHO Batote Insp Niaz-ul-Hasan under supervision of DYSP HQ Ramban Asgar Ali Malik KPS under close supervision of Adll SP Sh Sanjay Parihar KPS conducted surprise checking of vehicles at Captain More near Champa, Batote. During checking & frisking 01vehicle (Tanker) bearing Reg. no. JK02CG/8505 which was on its way from kashmir got signalled to stop for checking. On thorough search of the said vehicle,recovered a gunny bag filled with *Charas(Cannabis) like substances weighing approximately around 09 Kgs &550 grams from the back side of drivers seat which he had kept concealed.
In this regard case FIR NO 02/20 U/S 8/20 of NDPS act stands registered against the accused person at Police Station Batote & investigation has been geared up to asertain the source & other persons involved in smuggling of contraband.
