They said the department had received thousands of applications from the people all over the district for pension benefits under old age, widows, handicapped and other categories were running from pillar to post for the last 5-6 years but the department at district as well as tehsil levels seems to be unmoved because theirs they added.
They said we have been visiting Social Welfare offices every now and then for knowing the fate of our applications but every time we are given an answer in big No just live rubbing salt on our wounds they added. They alleged that no one in these offices was ready to give us proper reply. We have been coming from far fling areas but have to return back red faced as department has taken our applications casually they further added.
While talking to district Social Welfare Office Poonch, Mohd Shafi Malik told Early Times that they have received thousands of applications and many of them have been rejected for one reason or the other. We can nit provide pension benefit to each and every applicant, Malik added.
