LIC employees observe one day strike

Jammu, Jan 7: LIC employees under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association staged massive demonstrations in front of its offices in Jammu and Kashmir.
The protest was organized in view of the upcoming countrywide strike on 8th January 2020 against the economic policies and against the communal agenda of the NDA govt.
More than 20 crore workers across the country are expected to participate in the strike called by 10 Central Trade Unions and independent Federations including Insurance and Banking employees.
The demonstration at Jammu was led by Com. Pawan Gupta Divisional Secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division and at Srinagar by Com. A.M.Tantray, President of the Association. Speaking on the occasion outside LIC office at Rail Head Complex Jammu Com. Pawan Gupta lambasted against the economic policies of the NDA Govt. which are anti people, anti workers, anti farmers, anti women and anti youth. He pressed the NDA Govt.
For concrete measures for arresting rising prices of essential commodities, creation of decent and new jobs, minimum wage of Rs.21000/- p.m. and minimum pension of Rs.10000/- p.m., stoppage of sale of PSU shares, privatization of PSU through PPP and outsourcing, stopping of contractisation and casualization of jobs, waiver of farm loans, remunerative prices to farm products, , stopping of amendments to labour laws and strict implementation of existing labour laws, universal social security coverage and pension to all etc. Farmers’ unrest across the country is growing. The promised Minimum Support Price of 1.5 times of the cost of production to farmers is not being implemented.

Kishore Lal,Com. Shiban Raina. The demonstrations were led by Rajesh Gupta at Jammu-1, Rohit Gupta Jammu-2, Nanak Chand Jammu-3, Vijay Verma at Kathua, Kuldeep Singh at Samba, Ram Raj at Doda, Vinod Sharma and Khaliq Hussain at Rajouri, Rajinder Kumar at R.S. Pura, Moti Ram and Sham Singh at Udhampur, Raj Kumar at Poonch.
