Admin fails to clear snow, villages without electricity

KUPWARA, Jan 14: Despite timely prediction of heavy snowfall, the concerned authorities have completely failed to make proper arrangements in advance due to which the roads are yet to clear and villages without electricity in Kupwara district.
The commuters in Kupwara town had to face tremendous inconvenience as the authorities here have failed to clear snow from lanes, by-lanes even on main roads as result the vehicular connectivity in several Kupwara areas remained affected for the 3nd consecutive day.
However, reports said that men and machinery were pressed in few areas to clear main roads and District Administration has connected with private players for using JCB's to clear snow on roads.
Residents Kupwara district including Kupwara Town, Lolab, Hyhama, Kralpora, Dahama, Shaloora, Trumnad, Budnambal, Chokibal, Kachama and other areas of this frontier district complained that the district administration has failed to clear snow from main roads.
Residents of Lolab, Hyhama,Kralpora and other Villages said that from the day it started snowing the students of the village were unable to go to tuitions due to non availability of transport even they have to face alot of problems due to unavailability of electricity.
"The road is still closed as it is covered with snow and if there is any contingency we cannot even hire a vehicle," said Javid Ahmad from Hyhama, adding that the concerned department owes an explanation to the people of the village.
District Headquarter and Villages of this frontier district are reeling under darkness for the past three days. Power Development Department also has failed to restore electricity in main town kupwara and other areas from many days.
