Azad, Soni coming to ‘mobilize’ support against CAA
1/14/2020 11:56:28 PM
Early times report

Jammu, Jan 14: Notwithstanding statement of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) about visit of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni, both the leaders are visiting Jammu to convince party cadre to launch agitating against CAA.
Despite protests in some parts of the country, J&K has remained peaceful, by and large, on this contentious issue because Congress workers in Jammu region are divided on holding protest on this issue in this part of the country.
Credible sources said that Congress leadership has asked senior leaders to mobilize cadre to start protests against CAA in otherwise peaceful Jammu region so senior leaders have been deputed to direct local leaders to start protests in Jammu also.
Credible sources further revealed that Congress leadership was not happy over the way Jammu based party leaders have maintained a silence on CAA. Party leadership wanted that protests should be held in Jammu also.
As reported earlier, most of Jammu based Congress leaders have expressed their reservation on holding protests against CAA because they were very much aware that it would ultimately benefit BJP in the coming days but the high command was mounting pressure on them to hold protest.
As per handout issued by the party, Azad and Soni were will arrive Jammu on January 16 on two day visit to take stock of the current political and security situation. They will interact with senior party functionaries including former Ministers and legislators to take stock of current political and security scenario in J&K.
Senior leaders from Jammu and Kashmir will meet the AICC leaders and brief them on prevailing scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. A meeting of PCC Executive is also scheduled to be held during their stay on January 16-17 to discuss the current political developments and road map for the party.
