EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 30: In the ongoing tussle to take over control of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the jailed PDP President Mehbooba Mufti today found support from party’s Chenab valley leadership who out rightly refused to support any group who will try to replace Mufti at the time when she is under detention.
As per the details available with Early Times, amid voices to bring Muzaffar Hussain Baig to the forefront of party, District President PDP Kishtwar and Doda, Sheikh Nasir Hussain and Shahab ul Haque Butt today reposed faith in the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti.
“She is our topmost leader and will remain so,” party presidents of twin districts told the Early Times.
Both the leaders said that Mehbooba Mufti is undisputed leader for them and final authority in the party. They said that Muzaffar Hussain Baig is a veteran leader and one of the founders of the party and they equally respect him and are of the opinion that party needs his blessings and support.
“She is most accepted leader in all sections of party and we will overcome all the difficulties under her leadership”, PDP District presidents reiterated. Regarding Baig, they said that he has to play an effective role in this difficult time adding that they are hopeful that he will keep the party united and there is no division of authority.
Both the leaders have appealed party cadre to remain united and discourage any move aimed to divide the party.
District Presidents of Kishtwar and Doda while terming the prolonged detention of politicians in Jammu and Kashmir as “unjustified and uncalled for” have sought immediate release of all detained political leaders, including party president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.
