JAMMU, Jan 30:Two days after the heavy prepetition and wet outfield, the match resumed on the fourth day, where Jammu and Kashmir team batted and were bundled under the score of 168 runs. However the match ended in draw, with Jammu and Kashmir sharing one points each and have lost top spot to Odisha in Elite Group C as Chhattisgarh takes first innings lead. It was the second draw game for Jammu and Kashmir this season. Earlier they had a draw match against Assam in the month of December.
The match between Jammu and Kashmir and Chhattisgarh started quite well on the first day of the Elite C Group Ranji Match with J&K winning the toss and choosing to field. Coming to bat on first day Chhattisgarh scored 270 runs with Captain Harpreet Singh scoring a match saving innings of 116 runs and he was adjudged Man of the Match for his performance.
Then there was a heavy prepetition on day two of the match with water all over the ground. Not a single ball was bowled on the second day. Both the teams were hopeful that play will be resumed on day three but yet again the ground remain wet and day three were called off.
But on the fourth day of the match, Chhattisgarh team declared on the score of 270 runs giving a chance to opponents to score and put them under pressure and it turned out to be a reality. While trailing with the score of 270 runs the wickets of Jammu and Kashmir team started falling.
Jammu and Kashmir only managed to score 168 runs despite remaining unbeaten this season. Experienced played Shubham Khajuria and Captain Parvez Rasool were back to hut on golden duck. Jammu and Kashmir tried with the experiment as Abdul Samad was asked to bat at one down position.
He scored quick 33 runs in 30 balls but that were not enough, Suryansh Raina scored 23 runs, Abid Mushtaq tried slogs and scored 31 runs and Waseem Raza managed 29 runs. And it was the Fazil Rashid who scored quick 27 runs in the late half of the game.
After the first innings of Jammu and Kashmir, game could not be played more and match ended in draw. Jammu and Kashmir will next face their eighth game against Tripura at home ground of Tripura.
