CPI(M) observes Martyrdom of Father of Nation

Jammu, Jan 30: In response to Central Committee, CPI(M) call to observe January 30, the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi as a mark/symbol of communal harmony, Communist Party of India (Marxist), J&K organized a well attended gathering at Press Club, Jammu to highlight Mahatma’s relentless campaigns in pursuit of Communal harmony which was then under assault by the British Imperialism.
While addressing the gathering, GN Malik, Secretary of UT, CPI(M), J&Kemphasized that the age old pluralistic ethos and fabric of Indian Nation is constantly under assault by the present dispensation at the centre. He reiterated that the divisive and unconstitutional legislature of CAA has virtually created chaos and confusion among the inhabitants of the country. The legislation is against the basic spirit of our constitution. The thrust and priority of the Government should have been as how to tackle the unprecedented economic crisis in the country which reflects the lowest ever growth rate of the economy at 4.5% during 2019-20. Ever increasing, alarming and highest unemployment rate in the last 45 years as per National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) report, food inflation at more than 14.3% and overall inflation rate at 7.35% in December 2019, highest since July 2014. Government ought to have pooled down its all resources to tackle the above mentioned crucial issues, thus, at least providing some succor to the people of the country and should at maturely by avoiding contagious issues. Sham Prasad Kesar, Regional Secretary CPI(M), Jammu stressed that unless Communal harmony is strengthened, peace and development cannot be achieved at any cost. He appealed the secular democratic forces of the country to unitedly fight the parochial and divisionary political agenda of the BJP led government at centre before it is too late.Kesar also explained the Preamble of Indian Constitution to the gathering. Om Parkash, Senior Leader of the party said that Communal politics is bound to affect worstly our age old image across the globe, which should not be allowed to happen under any circumstances. Kishore Kumar, Senior Leader stressed that need of the hour is to come on united platform to launch a united and sustained struggle against the divisive policies of the present dispensation without any further delay.
Senior leader of the party including Jagdish Sharma, Sewa Ram, Muzaffar Ahmad,Raj Kumar, BanarsiDass, Sohan Lal, Jia Lal, V K Vaid, Anita Devialso addressed the gathering.
