DLSA conducts awareness regarding cleanliness in fruit, vegetable markets

JAMMU, Feb 7: Under the instructions of Justice Rajesh Bindal, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu initiated second phase of awareness regarding cleanliness of fruit and vegetable markets at Purani Mandi Parade and Bakshi Nagar with an objective to make Jammu City neat, clean and plastic free.
Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu Naushad Ahmed Khan asserted on implementing ban on use of polythene bags and proper disposal of both bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste. He stressed upon strict implementation of all rules and laws of Solid Waste Management for creating healthy environment. He also enlightened all the fruit/vegetable vendors about the hazardous effect of polythene and plastic and also said that we all must contribute our bit for providing our future generation a healthy environment.
Director Media Axis Sandeep Koul informed the vegetable and fruit vendors that his organization create awareness regarding Swachh Bharat and other related issues by organizing cultural shows, seminars, awareness programmes in villages, panchayats and other public places.
Spokesperson, Media Axis Anita Chandpuri also sensitize the vendors regarding the plastic pollution which is caused by single use plastic and appealed them to take active part in Solid Waste Management and Swacch Bharat Mission. Retainer Lawyer, DLSA Jammu Advocate Deepali Arora and Advocate Pratima Singh also gave brief lecture on the importance of keeping two dustbins demarcated with lime in front of their shops.
Vendors appreciated the initiative taken by the DLSA and extended their full support in keeping their surrounding and environment neat and clean.
SDPO Bakshi Nagar, Amit Sharma and SHO Rakesh Chalotra were present on the occasion.
