DDC Samba asks to hold special camps to achieve 100% target under KCC

SAMBA, FEB 07: District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria today convened a meeting of Special District Level Review Committee to finalize the strategy regarding 100% enrolment of farmers under Kisan Credit Card Scheme. Assistant Development Commissioner, Sidharath Dhiman, Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour, Chief Agriculture Officer, Jahangir Shafi, Lead District Manager, Ajay Koul, besides other district, block and other officers were also present in the meeting.
CAO Samba informed that total enrolled farmers in district samba are 41,765 out which 14,750 have active under KCC. He said that inactive accounts shall be reactivated with the help of line departments and campaign cum awareness programme.
DDC said that the government has decided to launch a campaign to saturate farmers for financial inclusion under KCC. This campaign will be launched through the Financial Institutions including Commercial Banks, Cooperative Banks and Regional Rural Banks in collaboration with the line departments.
DDC directed CAO to organize special camps for farmers' awareness regarding updation of KCC in all the 9 blocks of the district. He asked officials of Rural Development Department and Banks to coordinate with the Agriculture Department so that the process of 100% issuance of KCC will be completed much before the deadline.
DDC directed the bank officers to organize financial literacy camps besides also facilitating and making accessible credit availability to farmers in the district.
