Court convicts Field Assistant PC Depot Parimpora, in graft case

JAMMU, Feb 12: Special Judge Anti-Corruption Kashmir, Srinagar convicted accused Falil-ul-Rehman @ Khalil-ul-Rehman S/o Abdul Aziz Rehman Joo then posted as Field Assistant I/c PC Depot SFC,(Fair Price Shop) Parimpora, Srinagar in Case FIR No. 08/2008 P/S VOK, now ACB.
The instant case was registered in the year 2008 on the complaint filed by Ab. Rashid Wani S/o Gh. Qadir Wani R/o Bonapara Nowpora Srinagar before VOK alleging therein that he filed an application before SFC Srinagar for a sanction of 50 CFT Timber on 12-11-2007. Accordingly, timber sanction order was issued in his favour. He approached Range officer SFC Rajbagh Srinagar, who informed that as soon as timber would be available at PC Depot Parimpora Srinagar, the same will be allotted to him. He approached incharge PC Depot SFC Parimpora, Falil-ul-Rehman who demanded Rs 7,500 as bribe for release of sanctioned timber. After persuasion, the deal of bribe was settled to Rs 4000 to be paid to the accused on 03-03-2008. The complainant appeared before VOK. Accordingly, the accused was caught red handed while accepting the bribe.
After completion of trial of the case the Spl Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar RN Watal has found the accused guilty for commission of offence of criminal misconduct under section 5(2) of PC Act. and sentenced the accused to undergo simple imprisonment for period of one year for offence punishable under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5 (2) of P. C. Act and also to pay a fine of Rs10,000. In addition, he will have to undergo six months imprisonment for offence punishable under section 161 RPC with fine of Rs.2000. Both the sentences will run concurrently. In default of payment of fine, convict will further undergo simple imprisonment for three months. Since the convict was on bail, so he was taken into custody and was forwarded to Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar along with a warrant for the execution of sentence.
