4-day sports fest-2020 commence at Udhampur

Udhmapur, Feb 12: Navin K. Chaudhary IAS, Principal Secretary Higher and Technical Education on Wednesday declared opening of ‘4-day sports fest-2020’ open at GDC Udhampur. In the event a total of 53 teams drawn from different colleges of Jammu Division are taking part to fight for titles in various games.
Chaudhary said, “Sports are integral constituent of the curriculum which gives physical and mental fitness to the players and help in the holistic development of the students”.
He emphasized upon the players to work hard, never give up and bounce back with new zeal for winning titles in their games.
Chaudhary lauded the leadership role of Prof. Nutan K. Resutra, Principal of the college and his dedicated staff for taking lead in organizing various curricular and extra –curricular activities for the all-round personality development of the students, he assured of all necessary help in the required for the further strengthening of college sports infrastructure.
Dr. Piyush Singla IAS, District Development Commissioner Udhampur was the guest of honor and Rajiv Pandey, IPS, SSP Udhampur and Director Technical Education remained present as special guests in the program.
Earlier the program began with the formal welcome address by Prof. Nutan K. Resutra Principal of the college in which he highlighted various achievements of the college in sports and academics. He briefed to the dignitaries about various activities and program that college has at hand in the days to come and assured the department of putting his best for the betterment of the college.
A magnificent guard of honor by NCC cadets of the college and participating teams was presented to the chief guest on the occasion. An exhibition match in Tug of War was also played between the girls teams of GDC Reasi and GDC Udhampur in GDC Reasi outplayed GDC Udhampur in straight two sets.
Later Mr. Chaudhary also planted ‘Nagkesar’ plant sapling in the College Botanical Garden and also inaugurated one ‘Smart Class Room’
Prominent citizens including Padama Shri Prof.Shiv Nirmohi, Great litterateur and Novelist Desh Bandu Dogra “Nutan”, Dr.Udhey Bhanu GDC Ramnagar, Prof.Subhash Sharma Principal GCW Udhampur, Principal GDC Udhampur, Prof.Kusam Gupta Principal GDC Majalta Dr.S.K Magotra Principal Bhaskar Degree College also graced the occasion with their presence.
