RAJOURI, Mar 4: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today declared open inter Block -District level Chess and Carrom championship here at Mini Sports Stadium.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kohli; District Youth Services and Sports officer, Ashok Gandotra; ZPEOs and other staff of Youth Services and Sports department and scores of youth were present on the occasion.
The championship has been organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under Khelo india programme. Around 9 teams of boys and girls of all age groups are participating in the Chess and Carrom Championship.
In his address, the DDC said that rural youth of Rajouri district have immense potential in the field of sports and asked them to voluntarily come forward to showcase their sports skills. He said that sport activities have significant impact on physical, social and mental development of youth. |
