Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 4: During short stint of Lieutenant Governor, noose has been tightened against corruption but there is no letup in open violation of transfer policy by Higher Education Department, which has recently displaced two Assistant Professors (APs) prematurely to adjust a blue-eyed back to Jammu City college.
According to documents, the Higher Education Department had transferred an Assistant Professor of Mathematics vice order number 25-JK (HE) of 2020 of 08/01/2020 from GGM Science College Jammu to Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar but she was unwilling to join there.
As the AP didn't join GDC Billawar, the Higher Education Department showered undue favours and issued an order vide number 115-JK(HE) of 2020 dated 28/02/2020, readjusting the Assistant Professor, who was under order of transfer to GDC Billawar to MAM College Jammu.
To adjust this AP at MAM College, another Assistant Professor of Mathematics was shifted from MAM College Jammu to Government Degree College Hiranagar, to create place for the posting of the blue-eyed AP.
Moreover, to adjust the Assistant Professor, who was transferred from MAM College, another Assistant Professor of Mathematics was shifted from GDC Hiranagar to GDC Billawar. The orders were issued in total violation of the transfer policy of the Higher Education Department.
Sources informed Early Times that the influential Assistant as well as Associate Professors posted in city colleges, enjoyed so much influence in the corridors of power that even they refused to serve in the colleges, established along the national highway and retain their postings in Jammu city colleges. "In the past few months, the Assistant Professors, who were shifted to peripheral colleges or the colleges of not their choice, managed to retain their choicest postings due to reasons best known to the officials of higher education department", sources said.
The faculty members have claimed that most of the city colleges of Jammu as well as Srinagar were overcrowded as well as those posted there have been overstaying for several years.
"During the popular government, the influential have been enjoying stay in city colleges and those having no influence had pinned hopes on the LG to rationalize the system but so far nothing has been done and the transfer industry has been running overnight in higher education department", the faculty members said, adding that the LG should take cognizance of the matter and root out corruption from the system, as has been done in other departments.
