DDC declares open Inter Block
District Level Chess, Carrom competition

RAMBAN, Mar 4: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan today declared open Inter Block, District Level Chess and Carrom competition here at Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS), Ramban.
The sports event being organized by the District Youth Services and Sports Department in collaboration with Education department.
Principal GMHSS, Narinder Singh Jamwal, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Dhramveer Singh, officials of Department of Education, Youth Services and Sports besides scores of children from various educational institutions of the district participated in the programme .
Speaking on the occasion, DDC hailed the initiative of the department saying that such events should be organized regularly for promotion of sports in the district. He said that there is no dearth of talent in the district.
Terming the sports as a potent tool for overall personality development, the DDC said that district Ramban is endowed with enormous sports potential which needs appropriate platform so that they can prove their mettle in various national level sports events.
The competition is being held at district level in which winners of block level competition are participating in district level competition, in which both girls and boys of different category are availing a big opportunity to showcase their talent in Chess and Carrom competitions.
The winning students will get access to division level competition and later the winning team at the division level will represent the district at state-level competitions.
In Carrom competitions Adil Ayub Hajam of Khari block won the final competition by betting Tariq Ahmad Malik of Dhram block in single Boys category whereas Adil Hussain and Shajahan Ahmed of Dhram block declared winner in Boys double category.
Meantime Amrik Singh of Ramban clinched the title by betting Sourab Singh of Batote block in boys Chess competition.
