Admit it : MEN Suffer too !! #VitaminG
Gagandeep Siidhu3/7/2020 11:27:09 PM
You probably think of yourself as an average guy. And you probably think you cope pretty well with everyday stress. Sure, the boss might be causing you stress at work and making you uneasy about how secure your job is. Yeah, and maybe your wife or girlfriend has been too busy or too tired lately to notice just how much stress you have to deal with. And look at how fast your kids are growing up while you are busy planning their future but not enough time to spend with them. But that’s all right. You’re cool. Except for those stressful moments when you snarl because your shirt buttons are too big, or you bust a blood vessel because some old lady is taking forever to get off the bus, or you struggling to make ends meet, or you are still sitting on that great idea to fulfill your dream, or an argument with loved one which you are unable to find answer to hence avoiding the conversation. Do you think maybe you are feeling more stress these days? Maybe even more stress than a woman? Well, let me tell you :” We men don’t like admitting our vulnerabilities “, I didn’t for so many years but let me tell you acceptance is the 1st step towards success in all areas of life. I went through all the phases of bad relationship, lack of money, not able to go for my dreams, unable to express my emotions etc. But it felt so heavy inside as I was carrying more than my own weight of expectation of family, boss, society etc. Its time to let go and start your inward journey of success in areas of life.
How men can prevent stress
“Worry is having your pain in advance,” Terry Real’
When you look at it that way, who wants to suffer twice?
“You can learn to keep yourself in the present,” I am telling you.
“Don’t project into the future.”
“We are taught to accept responsibility for things we don’t have control over, Usually we get bent out of shape with what we can’t change and get so involved with that, we fail to step up to the plate and do the things we can. Procrastination is the most naked form of that.”
Stress-Busting Strategies for Men
A growing to-do list, meetings that drag into the late evening, financial strains, relationship issues, trouble sleeping: When it comes to stress, many men struggle to find an outlet. Yet, without the right coping mechanisms, chronic stress can deeply, and adversely, affect men’s health.
How can men reduce the stress in their lives?
No matter the source, chronic stress has significant effects on the body. Studies have linked it to a variety of health issues involving mood, sleep, appetite, and more. And while researchers have yet to pinpoint the specific ways long-term stress affects the heart, and other systems, men under seemingly constant pressure are also more likely to eat unhealthy foods, adopt a sedentary lifestyle, and smoke. Fortunately, men don’t have to let stress get the better of them. There are a number of things men can do to take charge of their wellbeing. Here are four stress-busting tips men should know about
1. Exercise on a near-daily basis or go for Run
Men might consider taking just 20 minutes to perform a few sets of crunches, jumping jacks, and burpees. Or cut back on electronics and go on a walk during the time they would have spent scrolling through social media feeds. It will quickly be evident that it is possible to enjoy a flexible, rewarding fitness routine. Even short spurts of exercise can go a long way.
2. Improve diet and consider supplementation
Good nutrition helps the body recover from stress. And while of course we’d like to emphasize the importance of a balanced, nutrient-rich diet, supplementation is also a strategy to consume more of certain nutrients that can support the body’s stress response.
3. Change the things that can be changed (and accept those that cannot be changed)
Stress generally involves feeling overwhelmed or out of control. An ideal stress-busting solution is to adjust one’s outlook by addressing stressors that are within your control and letting go of the things that cannot be changed. For instance, maybe you can’t change the length of your commute—but you can spend the hour listening to an inspiring podcast or generating ideas for an upcoming presentation.
Similarly, if you aren’t getting the recommended eight hours of rest each night, make changes that can help you sleep more soundly. Reduce your caffeine intake and store your phone and laptop in another room. Figure out what’s adding to your stress and go right to the source.
4. Talk to someone.
Being able to talk with family or friends about what is causing you stress can really help you to deal with how you are feeling. If face-to-face conversation feels too hard at this time then try reaching out by phone, text or email. Writing down what is causing you stress and how you feel can also be a really good way of ‘offloading’ feelings of stress
Remember, it is always OK to ask for help. Seeking help is often the first step towards getting and staying well.
