Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 12: It may sound weird but it’s true that some need based employees of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in district Poonch have been calling the shots in Executive Engineer PHE Office, who have been sitting here for the last fifteen years.
Sources told Early Times that these need based employees have taken over entire control of administrative affairs including clearance of all payment bills. “Without their wish nobody can get their work done. Even the Junior Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers feel themselves helpless before them,” they alleged adding that these employees intimidate their senior officials to expose them due to which officials prefer to remain quite.
Sources further said that these days, such employees are busy in making payment of bills in view of closing of financial year i.e. March 31.
“Besides, several Junior Engineers in PHE Department allegedly possess fake degrees and serving in the district for the last many years. They allegedly execute several unethical works for their ulterior benefits,” said sources.
“A pumping motor has been lying in PHE Harni Station of Mendhar, which has to be installed but till date the work has not been done which indicate that department is attempting to make embezzlement in this case,” they alleged.
Meanwhile, there are numerous complaints in connection with contaminated water supply to the residents of Poonch district. “Last year entire Poonch district witnessed erratic water supply due to sheer negligence of the PHE Department, which utterly failed to provide clean water,” they said.
