For a change NC discusses US, Taliban, Afghanistan and Iran
3/12/2020 11:38:40 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 12: After a meeting secret between former spymaster AS Dulat and National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah who is also the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir last month, the NC seems to have gone for a change in making party statements.
At a time when its top leadership is behind the bars, the NC is busy talking more about issues like Afghanistan-Taliban talks and even riots in the national capital.
The NC issued a formal handout welcoming the deal between Taliban and the US singed in Doha. The NC lauded the Taliban and the US for the development. Interesting, the NC handout didn’t mention name of the leader or the spokesman who had issued the statement, which was recently carried by a section of the local media.
In another formal handout, the NC expressed concern over the situation in New Delhi in the wake of recent riots. This handout from the party was also not attributed to any of the party leaders.
In yet another such move, a top NC leader issued a statement highlighting spread of Corona Virus in Iran and sought return of Kashmirs stranded in the gulf country.
Ironically this handout from NC came three days after senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had already appealed New Delhi to evacuate Kashmiris stranded in Iran.
It is pertinent to mention that at the recently held party convention in Hazratbal area of Srinagar on February 27 the party discussed bad road conditions, erratic power supply and traffic jams. The party, however, had refrained from talking about anything linked to prevalent political situation in Kashmir.
Observers have been saying that NC seems to be moving “in a more planned manner” after former RAW chief AS Dulat called on Farooq Abdullah at his Gupkar residence which has been converted into subsidiary prison for the former CM booked under the Public Safety Act.
Despite repeated attempts the NC leaders were not available for comments.
