UDHAMPUR, May 1: A groom, along with his father and brother, sped away to Ved Mandir in Adarsh Colony here to marry the girl of his dreams.
Though the couple had planned a big, lavish wedding for them but keeping in view the prevailing circumstances they made the decision to tie the knot in a simple ceremony with only handful of family members for the presence. The entire marriage ceremony was solemnized with proper maintenance of social distancing and in the presence of only five relatives, who also didn’t forget to follow the norms of the ongoing lockdown due to coronavirus. At the wedding, everyone including the groom and the bride, wore masks and used sanitizers.
After performing the wedding rituals, the groom returned home on motorbike with his bride on pillion. The groom, Kanav Gupta son of Krishan Gopal of Ward No 13, Udhampur, was eagerly awaiting his wedding since last year when he got engaged to a girl of his choice. While speaking to Early Times, Kanav Gupta said that he wanted his wedding to be held with much fanfare and he had been preparing for it but all went haywire with the corona outbreak and the lockdown “Nothing materialized as planned but I was unwilling to postpone the marriage. So, I and my wife to be decided to go ahead with the wedding in a simple and subtle way,” said Kanav. “All our plans for a grand wedding have been dashed but I am still happy that we could get marry in these trying times. Once the lockdown is lifted, we will celebrate our wedding by organizing a grand function. As a responsible citizen, we appeal to all to follow the lockdown instructions because it’s for our safety,” he added.
