Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 15: More popularly known as ‘Jammu Di Kudi’ by her audiences, for keeping Jammu region always ‘Khush’ by her soothing voice in her Morning show at Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, this young girl Shwetima born to a family of academicians Kiran and Upkar Singh Jamwal and brought up at Udhampur is multifaceted and equally hard working. An engineer by education, a trained ‘Kathak’ Dancer by passion and a Singer by Heart makes her all unique as an RJ (Radio Jockey).
Shwetima has always been an All Rounder and she kept the passion alive during her engineering. She took formal training of ‘Kathak’ and represented her University at All India Inter University Championships and was a Gold Medalist for consecutive 3 years in Kathak and Folk Orchestra. After which, she also got an opportunity to represent India at South Asian Universities’ Festival (SAUFEST).
It was June 2016 when she appeared for the Auditions of RJ conducted by Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM at Jammu. Since she was back home (to Udhampur) after almost 2 years of corporate job in Delhi, stepping into a creative field was may be her destiny. She went for the auditions. Cleared almost 8-9 rounds (tough ones) amongst more than 1400 candidates and got selected. She was then sent for training to Radio Mirchi Delhi and then to Radio Mirchi Chandigarh for some hands on experience and then finally when the station launched in Jammu in October 2017, she became the first voice to be On Air for 98.3 Radio Mirchi Jammu.
Since then she has been making Jammu's every morning soothing and super happy by her intent to keep her people 'Khush'. The sprinkle of Dogri in her talks makes it even more interesting, thereby also becoming an aspiration for the youth who shy away from Speaking their Mother tongue. She makes sure every Celebrity she meets, sings a Dogri Song with her.
Her videos on her social media @MirchiShwetima of singing and dancing on ‘Dogri Folk Song’ makes everyone enjoy with her and also give reason to youngsters of Jammu to learn DOGRI language and promote it through their singing and dancing talents.
