SRINAGAR, May 15: The positive cases of Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir crossed the 1000 mark today as 30 more persons tested positive for COVID-19. While 21 cases were reported from Kashmir, nine such cases were reported from Jammu division.
Reports said that fresh cases were reported from as many as 10 districts of the union territory. Srinagar reported 11 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Baramulla six cases, Kathua four cases, Kupwara and Ramban two cases each and Bandipora, Pulwama, Jammu, Udhampur one case and Rajouri one case each.
Following today’s fresh cases the number of positive cases in the union territory reached 1013. So far 513 Corona Virus patients have recovered while as there have been 11 casualties due to the virus. As on date there are 489 active positive cases of Corona Virus patients in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 30 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), nine from Jammu division and 21 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1013.
Out of 1013 positive cases, 489 are active positive, 513 have recovered and 11 have died. Moreover, 28 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 70,306 test results available, 69,293 samples have tested as negative till May 15, 2020.
Additionally, till date 1,05,941 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 27,760 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 142 in hospital quarantine, 489 in hospital isolation and 13,254 under home surveillance. Besides, 64,285 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 153 positive cases with 65 active positive, 84 recovered, four deaths; Anantnag district has 145 positive cases with 118 active positive, 26 recovered, one death; Bandipora has 135 positive cases with 12 active positive, 122 recovered, one death and Baramulla has 116 positive cases with 46 active positive, 67 recovered, three deaths.
“Shopian has 107 positive cases with 44 active positive, 63 recovered; Kupwara has 85 positive cases with 37 active positive, 48 recovered; Kulgam has 72 positive cases with 66 active positive, six recoveries; Budgam has 52 positive cases with 31 active positive and 21 recovered cases; Ganderbal has 23 positive cases with nine active positive and 14 recoveries and Pulwama reported 15 positive cases with 10 active positive, five recovered,” said the bulletin.
Similarly, Jammu has 39 positive cases with 12 active positive cases, 26 recoveries, one death; Udhampur has 24 positive cases with four active positive cases, 19 recovered and one death; Samba has 11 positive cases with seven active positive and four recoveries and Rajouri has five positive cases with one active positive case and four recovered.
“Kathua has 21 positive cases with 20 active positive and one recovered; Kishtwar had only one positive case who has recovered; Ramban has six positive cases with five active positive and one recovered while as Reasi has three positive cases with two active positive and one recovered,” the bulletin.
As per the bulletin, the public has been informed that, “people of all ages can be infected by the Novel Corona Virus as the elderly people and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable towards severe illness with the virus. WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus, for example by following good hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene”.
