Worse not over yet
5/17/2020 11:30:37 PM
The sudden spike in number of COVID-19 positive cases across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir, is an indication that worse is not over yet and the predictions of the experts that the pandemic will peak in middle of May are coming true.
Cases across the country have crossed 90,000 mark and in J&K more than 1100 people have tested positive for this deadly infection.
Entire country has been in a lockdown mode for more than 50-days and there is a possibility about it being extended with a few relaxations. Punjab and Maharashtra have already extended the lockdown till May 31. Other States and Union Territories which have been hit hard by the outbreak of this pandemic are also contemplating to extend the lockdown. Nearly, after 2-months everyone seems to be asking one simple question, how long we will have to live like this? The virus which originated from China has engulfed the whole world. But the China is out of it. The China didn’t allow this virus to go beyond Wuhan and succeeded in flattening the curve. But other countries couldn’t restrict it. The international community seems to have realized that China had planned it all. But at present the biggest concern for all the countries is to control the spread of COVID-19 and save the lives of their people.
India has succeeded in saving lives but our economy has been hit hard. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, recently announced a bailout financial package with a hope that it will help in mitigating the sufferings of people to some extent. The biggest achievement for India has been that death rate has not been that high. Besides lockdown, researchers and scientists across the country have been working hard to come up with a solution to prevent the infected people from becoming critical. We have been fighting the COVID-19 collectively and will have to carry on with this fight till the vaccine or some cure appears. It looks like a long-drawn battle. Only our resilience and strength can help us to overcome the present crisis. There is no room for complacency. There is no doubt that people are getting infected but many have been cured also. The outbreak of COVID-19 has made one thing clear that world can neither trust China anymore nor can it depend on it. Chinese have played a dirty game and they should be held accountable for it.
