Labour Deptt Reasi provides financial assistance to construction workers

REASI, May 24: In wake of the current situation emerged due to novel COVID-19, district administration Reasi has taken various possible steps to mitigate the sufferings of economical weaker section of the society. In the sequel of significant measures taken earlier for providing financial assistance to the registered construction workers, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib again disbursed an amount of Rs 5,65,000/- (Rupees Five lakh sixty five thousand only) as 3rd installment among the beneficiaries through DBT mode under Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare scheme of Labour department.
It is pertinent to mention here that two installments of COVID relief worth Rs 5,80,000/- and Rs 5,65,000/- had already been released earlier into the accounts of beneficiaries in the month of March and April respectively for the purchase of ration and other essential commodities and all that done when helpless workers have lost their livelihood and there was no ray of hope amid of this pandemic. All these measures have been taken by Labour department under extraordinary and adverse circumstances in order to provide a sigh of relief to the construction workers. In addition to it, Labour Department Reasi has also distributed 2600 number of masks to needy and poor people and in coordination with Employment Department has also done counseling of 957 workers who are emerged with insane tendencies due to helplessness and so far Labour department has disbursed a total assistance of Rs. 28,00,000/- under different components to the construction workers. Deputy Commissioner appreciated the working of Labour department Reasi headed by Assistant Labour Commissioner, Pradyot Gupta for its proactive efforts in giving financial assistance to poor labourers at this crucial juncture in the midst of the worst global pandemic COVID-19. The main objective of releasing 3rd installment in favour of registered construction workers and that even too in a very short span of time is to only bring out the poor and needy workers from distress. Keeping in view the most pious month, financial assistance has been released well ahead of the eve of Eid-ul-fitr. Being a stakeholder to safeguard the rights of labourer class, it is a sort of effort on humanitarian grounds to render services to the needy workers. Labour department Reasi under the proper guidance of higher authorities also playing a tremendous role as frontline rescuer for Inter-state migrant workers for their movement to their native places.
