With 52 fresh cases positive cases of Corona Virus reach 1621 in JK

SRINAGAR, May 24: The total number of positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1621 today as 52 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported from both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions of the union territory.
Reports said that while 30 cases were reported from Kashmir division 22 such cases came up from Jammu division. Kulgam district in South Kashmir reported 26 fresh cases followed by Samba seven cases, Jammu six cases, Kathua four cases, Rajouri three cases, Udhampur two cases, Anantnag, Baramulla, Shopian and Kupwara one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 52 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 22 from Jammu division and 30 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir to 1621.
Out of 1621 positive cases, 791 are active positive, 809 have recovered and 21 have died; two in Jammu division and 19 in Kashmir division. Moreover, 35 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, three from Jammu division and 32 from Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 1, 30,433 test results available, 1, 28,812 samples have been tested as negative till May 24, 2020.
Additionally, till date 1, 32,594 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 31,816 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 71 in hospital quarantine, 791 in hospital isolation and 28,600 under home surveillance.
Besides, 71,295 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Anantnag district has 273 positive cases, 160 active positive, 109 recovered, four deaths; Kulgam has 224 positive cases, 207 active positive, 15 recoveries, two deaths, Srinagar has 179 positive cases, 48 active positive, 125 recovered, six deaths; Kupwara has 164 positive cases, 94 active positive, 70 recovered; Bandipora has 139 positive cases, nine active positive, 129 recovered, one death.
“Baramulla has 137 positive cases, 35 active positive, 98 recovered, four deaths; Shopian has 128 positive cases, 21 active positive, 107 recovered; Budgam has 64 positive cases, 15 active positive, 47 recovered cases, two deaths; Ganderbal has 27 positive cases, three active positive, 24 recoveries and Pulwama reported 25 positive cases, 15 active positive, 10 recovered,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 78 positive cases, 43 active positive, 34 recoveries, one death; Kathua has 45 positive cases, 39 active positive, six recovered; Ramban has 44 positive cases, 43 active positive, one recovered; Udhampur has 35 positive cases, 13 active positive case, 21 recovered, one death; Samba has 27 positive cases, 20 active positive, seven recoveries.
“Rajouri has 13 positive cases, nine active positive, four recovered; Kishtwar has eight positive cases, seven active positive, one recovered; Poonch has six active positive cases, Reasi has four positive cases, three active positive, one recovered, while as Doda has one active positive case,” reads the bulletin.
The advisory has informed the public to maintain physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water besides following good respiratory etiquettes and hygiene which is the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19.
“People are strongly advised to avoid going to crowded places, as they are more likely to come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19 and it is more difficult to maintain physical distance with others at these places”, as per the bulletin. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
