Drug Controller conducts inspections of Pharma outlets

JAMMU, JUNE 3: In continuous to its efforts to ensure smooth distribution/availability of life saving, critical care medicines and other essential drugs in the distribution channels, inspections of pharma outlets were carried out by the Drug Control Officers of the organization under the supervision of State Drug Controller, J&K throughout Jammu and also to overcome the specific shortages of critical care pharma products in the larger interest of public and patient care.
Awareness was also raised among the pharma trade members to strictly adhere to the social distancing norms and other preventives measures to contain the transmission chain during the dispensing of medicines.
In the process more than 200 needy patients have been facilitated by delivering the life saving medicines to them at their doorsteps throughout Jammu which is going a long way in the interest of public during the lockdown period post Covid 19 Outbreak.
Statutory drug samples of more than 90 formulations viz Antibiotics, PPI’s, Anti-hypertensive’s, Cardiovascular Medicines and Sanitizers were drawn from the market and Health Institutions to ensure safe and quality medicines and products are provided to the public. The samples have been referred to the Drug Testing Laboratories for framing legal opinion to ascertain their quality parameters.
Moreover stocks of Drugs worth Rs 45000/- have also been confiscated as the same were found to be contravening the provisions of the Act,
The Department is taking all the necessary measures to ensure that public in general and patients in particular do not face any difficulty in procuring their life saving & critical care products.
