SRINAGAR, Jun 3: Executive Director, Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Ghulam Mohammad Dar has bye-passed all the rules and regulations since he has posted six officials of the Institute for the COVID-19 related duties at the Srinagar Airport. This is despite the fact that no such order has been issued.
Sources told Early Times that on May 31, the General Administration Department (GAD) issued order 611-JK(GAD) according to which three officers Sarmad Hafeez, Shamim Ahmad Wani and Ghulam Mohammad Dar were deployed at the Srinagar airport in assisting in Corona Virus mitigation efforts. This order was issued in continuation of order number 587-JK(GAD) issued on 21-5-2020.
In the order it has not been mentioned that the officers would deploy their staff for the said duty. However, it did not make any difference for the EDI Executive Director since he deputed six officials of the Institute for the Covid-19 related duties at the Srinagar airport. Since the day being posted the officials are busy in clicking photos at the airport and sharing the same on social media platforms.
“Although, the officials were asked to compile a duty roster they did not do so and they are at a stretch discharging their Covid-19 related duties at the Srinagar airport. Their placement at the Srinagar airport is no less than an insult to the government order asking senior officers of the union territory to oversee the Covid-19 mitigation efforts,” said sources. Sources said that the approach adopted by Executive Director EDI shows that he can go to any extent in violating the orders issued by the government from time to time in mitigation of Covid-19 related crisis. They said that neither Dar nor the six officials posted at the Srinagar airport were tested for Corona Virus and as such one cannot vouch for their safe health parameters.
“The Executive Director wants to create an impression that he is ultimate boss since he has deployed six of his officials at the Srinagar airport for Covid-19 related duties. The million dollar question is that who authorized Dar to depute his staff for such sensitive duty at the Srinagar airport more so when they have no specialized training in this regard,” said sources.
Sources said that EDI has lost its mandate of providing training to the upcoming entrepreneurs of Jammu & Kashmir and instead it is focusing on issues that are not even remotely connected to it. They said that official vehicles are being used to pick and drop the officials who have been deployed for Covid-19 duties at the Srinagar airport.
