Govt appoints nodal officer for coordinating arrangements of foreign returnees with MEA, MoCA

Srinagar, June 4: The government Thursday said that M. Raju, IAS, Secretary to the Government, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, holding additional charge of Hospitality & Protocol, Estates and Civil Aviation Departments, shall be the Nodal Officer for coordinating the arrangements of foreign returnees with Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
According to government order avaliable with early times, the government said that M. Raju, IAS, will be the nodal officer for coordinating arrangements of foreign returnees with MEA and MoCA.
The MEA has already appointed yogeshwar Sangwan as state-level coordinator for Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to ensure close coordination with various ministries, state government, and the center during the return of people stranded around the world because of the Covid- out break.
The Centre has assured the Jammu and Kashmir administration of full support in evacuating the union territory residents stranded abroad due to the coronavirus lockdown.
A repatriation flight for the J and K residents from Muscat to Srinagar was landed in Srinagar on June 2.
The MEA ministry had already arranged a repatriation flight from Dubai to Srinagar evacuating 155 passengers, including four infants. Besides, the Centre had earlier facilitated the return of students and pilgrims from Iran.
