Early Times Report

Jammu, June 6: The much awaited and possible surgical strike on corruption in the Union Territory of J&K is likely to take place soon, as the Chief Secretary has called a high level meeting of around a dozen top officers of the important departments including the Director Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), at Civil Secretariat here on Monday (8th June).
Highly placed sources informed Early Times the steps being taken on the intervention of Lieutenant Governor, as numbers of corruption related complaints received by the Raj Bhawan has increased in the recent past.
“Through various channels including Jammu and Kashmir Online Grievance Redressal Portal, letter through e-mails the Raj Bhavan has received a large number of complaints of unabated corruption in the government departments. Acting tough against corruption the LG has decided to initiate tough measures against the corruption to eradicate the menace from the system”, sources said.
They said that the Chief Secretary, JKUT, B.V.R. Subrahmanyam is set to chair a crucial meeting in this regard with the Administrative Secretaries of various departments.
The meeting notice, GAD (Vig) 28-adm 2020 issued in this regard states that following officers will attend the meeting: “Financial Commissioner, Finance Department J&K, Principal Secretary to the Government, Science & Technology Department, Principal Secretary to the Government, Housing & Urban Development Department, Principal Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department, Principal Secretary to the Government, Power Development Department, Principal Secretary to the Government, PW(R&B) Department, Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Industries & Commerce Department, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Jal Shakti Department, Secretary to the Government, Planning & Monitoring Department, Secretary to the Government, Department of Rural Development and PR, Secretary to the Government, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department and the Director, Anti Corruption Bureau, J&K.”
Sources said that the LG’s administration recently clipped wings of senior IAS officer, who had allegedly misappropriated around Rs 60 lakhs in J&K Bank Fraud case.
“It has happened for the first time in the history of J&K that funds swindled by a senior IAS officer that too long back are being recovered. It is good sign and welcome step of much needed action against the corrupt officers by the Raj Bhawan”, they added.
